For a girl that’s completely smitten with aromas, a meeting with an essential oil company is a dream come true. I was lucky enough to visit an essential oil distillery in Khemisset, Morocco last September: we spent an afternoon in the fields discussing dozens of varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers grown in the region and then watched the live distillation of fresh geranium. That same company from Morocco sent a representative to our South Carolina office yesterday and I was thrilled to finally meet Patrice in person.
I was like a kid at Christmas when he whipped out several large cases filled with literally hundreds of vials of exotic essential oils. We spent an entire morning sniffing all kinds of goodies (think: iris absolute, Bulgarian rose absolute, vanilla absolute, black pepper essential oil) and swapping travel stories. Patrice told me about visiting the company’s Madagascar facility and watching lemurs jump from trees dripping with vanilla bean pods. Trip to Madagascar, anyone?
We’re working on a new product collection to debut this autumn and you just might be seeing some of these fabulous essential oils make their way into the products!
