The Buzz from Bella Luccè

An afternoon out of the office

June 23, 2008

As previously announced, we bid a fond farewell to our friend Mary last Friday. She leaves us to begin her journey into motherhood and we wish her all the best. As I told both Abby and Mary recently, they will always have a home at Bella Luccè and I expect to see them back as soon as those tots head off to preschool.

We enjoyed a delicious late-afternoon lunch at Miyo’s: crab wontons lined the table along with fried tofu, tempura vegetables, sesame chicken, Singapore shrimp and some kind of fabulous looking combination platters that Beth and Sarah had at the end of the table. Even though I am saddened that it’s under these circumstances that we dine together, it’s always a blast to have the crew together for an afternoon outside the office. While we make a commitment to sit together for a company-paid lunch each Friday, it’s nice to see everyone all spiffed up and decked out and enjoy a cold beer with the cuisine. Here we are last Friday:

From left to right: Sarah (shipping), Beth (production). Lela (no one’s quite sure what I do), Jackie (director of operations), Melanie (director of procurement & production), Chloe (future rock star), Michelle (production), Mary (production). My daughter, Chloe, was able to join us as her Guitar Camp finished at noon on Friday…little Celie was tumbling herself silly at gymnastics. Jenny, being based in Seattle, couldn’t be with us, but she did send her warm wishes and a hilarious story an accompanying photograph that had us in stitches. She’s good like that.

We’ll miss you Mary!
