I am temporarily back in warm and sunny South Carolina, having landed late last night after an utterly surreal week. Jenn and I had a drop-dead fabulous time: eating ourselves silly, dancing ourselves silly and making some great headway on Bella Luccè projects galore. I was a bit sad to board the plane home, but she and I will be conquering NYC soon, so more good times to come…
One of my favorite events of the week was the Interfaith Day talk on Tuesday. To see the ever-adorable Desmond Tutu on stage with His Holiness the Dalai Lama was completely mind-blowing. They spoke as old friends, about the need for faith, about the importance of compassion, about how we are more alike than we are different. Both exude a kind of supernatural joy that is positively infectious and it’s hard not to feel the warmth as they delight in one another. Click here to watch all the events of the week. I highly recommend the public talk from Saturday, April 12th and the Morning Panel on Tuesday, April 15th.
I spoke in my last entry of my close encounter of the Top Gun kind with Tom Skerritt at the VIP Reception for the Dave Mathews concert. As fate would have it, Tom was a tad lost during the Tuesday talk and ended up asking Jenn and I if he could borrow our mobile phone. My pleasure. He also ended up sitting next to us for the entire morning panel…awesome. He was incredibly laid-back, very comfortable in his own skin and a true gentleman. He’s a feature in two of my favorite films of all time- Top Gun and Steel Magnolias- so it was just the icing on my cake to spend the morning with him.

A giant “thank you” to every soul that made the Seeds of Compassion event a resounding success. That could not have been easy and I am forever in your debt…
