The dreaded “P” word
July 1, 2008
When people realize what I do for a living, they typically have a few questions. More often than not, their first question is “how did you get started doing THAT?” I realize that starting a beauty company from your kitchen is a bit atypical and I usually launch into a monologue about my personal health history and a serious health scare from my sister. These brushes with destiny were the catalyst for my journey down the path of scrutinizing labels and ultimately deciding that I could do it better myself.
I have previously been reluctant to discuss those details in depth as I have a hard time respecting companies who sell their products based on fear mongering. I want you to love Bella Luccè for who we are and what we do, not because you’re frightened that products from other companies will mean imminent death. Nevertheless, I have decided to elaborate on why I started this company and that dreaded “p” word. If you feel so moved, I invite you to read my view regarding parabens in personal care products. I have attempted to sort the facts from the speculation and the fear-mongering from genuine concern on a rather prickly issue that gets the blood of industry-insiders boiling faster than almost any other. I’d love to hear your feedback- send your thoughts to thebuzz@bellalucce.com.
