    Amity Boots by Frye

As the slightest hint of a chill hits the air here in South Carolina, I find myself thinking of autumn and warm boots…specifically THESE boots from Frye via Anthropologie. They will set you back quite a significant chunck of change, but Frye boots are a special kind of tough and should last damn near forever. I am still trying to reconcile why I cannot eat a steak but I can rock a fine pair of leather boots. My conscience is conflicted, but a girl can dream, no?

    Monthly Poll

    • I need a few more months of summer, beach and sand!

    Ingredient of the Month
    Pomegranate Seed Oil

Brimming with potent antioxidants that wage war on the free radicals responsible for aging, pomegranate seed oil is also rich in ellagic and punicic acids, which are reknowned for their ability to increase skin elasticity as they moisturize and protect dry skin. It takes 200+ pounds of fresh pomegranates to yield one pound of costly pomegranate seed oil.

    Home Spa Ritual
    5 Penny Lip Scrub

Dry, chapped lips are an unfortunate reality of winter. Thankfully, outrageously priced lip scrubs don’t have to be. You can recreate a simple version of those department store concoctions at home- for a fraction of the price. For less than a nickel per application, you can use this handy little tip to help loosen and gently remove dead skin for a Pitt-worthy pucker.

Take a pinch of brown sugar and gently rub onto moistened lips (don’t attempt this dry or you’ll risk raw, overly exfoliated lips). Rinse with warm water and immediately apply chapstick. I do this routine several times per week throughout autumn and winter and it yields beautiful results in seconds!

    Drumroll, please...

    More fun from Phoenix

    June 24, 2008

I’ve been home from Phoenix for two weeks now, but the memories of my Spa Girl Parties convention linger on. I have enjoyed speaking to various consultants who have written or called since that weekend and I am even more impressed with them now than I was then. A few days ago, Christine from California emailed me more photos from the weekend and I thought you might like to see the faces behind the convention.

Here are a few SGP Divas, after a healthy dose of wine and s’mores.

From left to right, we have DiAna (SGP’s founder), Christine, Melanie and Sabrina (both national directors for SGP). Sabrina lives in Washington and has a friend who works for Dave Matthews near his Seattle home. With her help, I have recently launched a full-scale initiative to find out where I can casually bump into him for coffee…details to follow. I am positive that his bodyguards are circulating pictures of me as we speak, but I can personally assure you that I mean no harm. Jenny has gotten my hopes up for a sighting before, but Sabrina has offered me renewed hope and I am eternally grateful.

Christine is mother to the most adorable little boy on God’s green earth. Exhibit A:

Could you not just eat him? I spent precious little time with Christine over the weekend, as this baby made my ovaries ache in a way that is entirely unhealthy for me. After one of my lectures (my, doesn’t that sound stern?) I grabbed his little foot in an attempt to make him smile and it almost melted in my hand. It was THAT SOFT. Don’t believe me?

Sigh. I love kids of all ages and spent a good bit of Friday and Saturday ribbing Steve and DiAna’s son Brandon, who alternately was intrigued and annoyed by me. But don’t let his expression fool you…we are fast friends and he’s planning to move in with my family when he goes off to college.

Thanks for a fabulous time ladies!
