Dry, chapped lips are an unfortunate reality of winter. Thankfully, outrageously priced lip scrubs don’t have to be. You can recreate a simple version of those department store concoctions at home- for a fraction of the price. For less than a nickel per application, you can use this handy little tip to help loosen and gently remove dead skin for a Pitt-worthy pucker. Take a pinch of brown sugar and gently rub onto moistened lips (don’t attempt this dry or you’ll risk raw, overly exfoliated lips). Rinse with warm water and immediately apply chapstick. I do this routine several times per week throughout autumn and winter and it yields beautiful results in seconds!

Good Golly, it’s hot!June 4, 2008Though it is the first week of June, the mercury is already lapping at the century mark here in South Carolina. I admit that I am not taking it well- though I love spring and autumn, you can keep summer all for yourself. South Carolina is so humid and miserable that I complain (even more than normal!) and grumble my way straight through June, July and August. I certainly hope it’s cooler where you are…and- if not- I hope the air conditioning unit you currently enjoy is of suitable size and power as to make the day a little easier.
