    Amity Boots by Frye

As the slightest hint of a chill hits the air here in South Carolina, I find myself thinking of autumn and warm boots…specifically THESE boots from Frye via Anthropologie. They will set you back quite a significant chunck of change, but Frye boots are a special kind of tough and should last damn near forever. I am still trying to reconcile why I cannot eat a steak but I can rock a fine pair of leather boots. My conscience is conflicted, but a girl can dream, no?

    Monthly Poll

As the summer winds down, how are you feeling?

    • I need a few more months of summer, beach and sand!
    • Enough with the heat...bring on fall!
    • Who cares about the weather, I'm just ready for the kids to go back to school.

    Ingredient of the Month
    Pomegranate Seed Oil

Brimming with potent antioxidants that wage war on the free radicals responsible for aging, pomegranate seed oil is also rich in ellagic and punicic acids, which are reknowned for their ability to increase skin elasticity as they moisturize and protect dry skin. It takes 200+ pounds of fresh pomegranates to yield one pound of costly pomegranate seed oil.

    Home Spa Ritual
    5 Penny Lip Scrub

Dry, chapped lips are an unfortunate reality of winter. Thankfully, outrageously priced lip scrubs don’t have to be. You can recreate a simple version of those department store concoctions at home- for a fraction of the price. For less than a nickel per application, you can use this handy little tip to help loosen and gently remove dead skin for a Pitt-worthy pucker.

Take a pinch of brown sugar and gently rub onto moistened lips (don’t attempt this dry or you’ll risk raw, overly exfoliated lips). Rinse with warm water and immediately apply chapstick. I do this routine several times per week throughout autumn and winter and it yields beautiful results in seconds!

    Drumroll, please...

    March 24, 2008

The kids and I just returned from a week of fun in New York City. Life has been more hectic than I care to admit for the last few months and it was great to spend some quality time together. We did it up right, with a tour of NBC Studios, an appearance in the audience of the Today Show (did you see us last Sunday?), a divine chocolate lunch at Max Brenner’s, shopping at FAO Schwarz, the famous NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade, ice skating in Central Park, a private workshop with a Broadway composer and a choreographer to give the kids a taste of acting in musical theater, three great Broadway shows (The Little Mermaid, Wicked and- our favorite- Young Frankenstein), dinner at the fantastically elegant NYC Buddha Bar, jaunts to Little Italy and Chinatown, visits to Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Bodies Exhibition at South Street Seaport, the American Museum of Natural History, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Times Square. Whew! We were also lucky enough to meet up with Nadia, our NYC-based brand consultant for Bella Luccè and it was so great to have her finally meet my children. Our grand finale was a pajama party- complete with divine room service desserts and a giant pot of hot chocolate- at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The girls look rather excited about those desserts, no? It was an awesome trip, but I am very glad to be home…

While I was out, Abby and Melanie held down the office beautifully and polished off our massive product launch. I hated not to be with the staff on our big day, but I did have my dear friend, Teri from Blue Flour, drop off a nice bottle of champagne and an assortment of maple pecan cheesecake squares, lemon poppyseed tarts and mini chocolate cups brimming with mousse. She is a dessert goddess. Judging by your response, you’re loving those new products as much as we are and we couldn’t be happier to hear your enthusiasm. Our free Starter Kit offer (see below) is still available…get ‘em while they last!
