Bacchus Body Oil

The weather is finally cooling, which means that our Tuscan Wine Therapy Collection is in high production in the Bella Luccè kitchens. I am often greeted by the alluring aroma of crisp red wine as I open the door to my office (thanks to the products, not because the staff is hitting the bottle while I am away), and- let me tell you- that aroma is pleasantly addictive. Exhibit A: our Bacchus Body Oil. Cleverly disguised in miniature wine bottle, the emerald glass holds a luscious body oil that harnesses the power and aroma of burgundy grapes. Slather it on daily after showering to lock in moisture or try it as a silky massage oil for those nights by the roaring fires. Even Bacchus (the Roman god of wine and intoxication) would be proud.

Latest Obsession
Soy Body Candles

Last month, at the IECSC show in Orlando, we met a handsome cowboy and his lovely bride from Louisiana. They were debuting their new earth-friendly, soy-based candles at the show and they kept us in stitches for a solid three days. We now affectionately call them “Cowboy” and “Mama” and nicer people you will never meet. I purchased several of Mama’s Heirloom Candles at the show and I am wishing I had grabbed a few more. Gorgeous, etched glass jars hold natural soy wax and a sparkling array of elegant fragrances. Since soy burns cool, you can pour the melted wax directly on the skin for a surprisingly soft skin conditioner. Cowboy grows soybeans himself, so a single purchase supports two of my favorite people on the planet. God bless cowboy…we miss you!

Ingredient of the Month
Pomegranate Seed Oil

Brimming with potent antioxidants that wage war on the free radicals responsible for aging, pomegranate seed oil is also rich in ellagic and punicic acids, which are reknowned for their ability to increase skin elasticity as they moisturize and protect dry skin. It takes 200+ pounds of fresh pomegranates to yield one pound of costly pomegranate seed oil.

Food For Thought

“Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hate. It is a power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness.”

-William Arthur Ward

Home Spa Ritual
5 Penny Lip Scrub

Dry, chapped lips are an unfortunate reality of winter. Thankfully, outrageously priced lip scrubs don’t have to be. You can recreate a simple version of those department store concoctions at home- for a fraction of the price. For less than a nickel per application, you can use this handy little tip to help loosen and gently remove dead skin for a Pitt-worthy pucker.

Take a pinch of brown sugar and gently rub onto moistened lips (don’t attempt this dry or you’ll risk raw, overly exfoliated lips). Rinse with warm water and immediately apply chapstick. I do this routine several times per week throughout autumn and winter and it yields beautiful results in seconds!

Drumroll, please...

Hello from Seattle!

October 11, 2007

I’ve been in perpetually gray, alarmingly chilly Seattle all week- and I’m actually coping better than I thought I would. Getting on a plane in sunny South Carolina at a warm 92 degrees, it’s a bit of a shock to deplane in Washington at a bone-numbing 52 degrees. However, I did bring my trench and an assortment of adorable closed-toe shoes, so I am surviving quite well. I do love this city, with its “we really couldn’t care less” attitude, streams of art galleries, a myriad of great public sculptures, the infamous Pike Place Market and more fabulous restaurants than a girl knows what to do with. I dined at Carmelita last night and it was- hands down- the best vegetarian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Fabulous, organic fare at reasonable prices and an eclectic (yet not awkwardly so) menu…I highly recommend it. It had been just over a year since I’d been to the city and I truly have missed it. I am here to present some exciting proposals and have a few days left in my stay.

In the meantime, there has been a flurry of emails and calls inquiring about our upcoming product launches. Here’s what I can tell you: look for the Gingerbread Crème and Cranberry Fig collections to debut October 16th. Those will be followed by our gorgeous holiday gift sets and the return of our famous Vanilla Coconut Whipped Shea on October 22nd. Watch those email inboxes for specific announcements (and usually a coupon or two). If you haven’t joined our mailing list, now is the perfect time to do so.

We’re also full-swing into development of our largest product launch in two years. Details are top-secret, but I can tell you that I haven’t been as excited about new products in ages. Radically different ingredients, unique new product formats and some groovy ideas in packaging have us all abuzz. Look for almost a dozen new products in February 2008!
