    Amity Boots by Frye

As the slightest hint of a chill hits the air here in South Carolina, I find myself thinking of autumn and warm boots…specifically THESE boots from Frye via Anthropologie. They will set you back quite a significant chunck of change, but Frye boots are a special kind of tough and should last damn near forever. I am still trying to reconcile why I cannot eat a steak but I can rock a fine pair of leather boots. My conscience is conflicted, but a girl can dream, no?

    Monthly Poll

As the summer winds down, how are you feeling?

    • I need a few more months of summer, beach and sand!
    • Enough with the heat...bring on fall!
    • Who cares about the weather, I'm just ready for the kids to go back to school.

    Ingredient of the Month
    Pomegranate Seed Oil

Brimming with potent antioxidants that wage war on the free radicals responsible for aging, pomegranate seed oil is also rich in ellagic and punicic acids, which are reknowned for their ability to increase skin elasticity as they moisturize and protect dry skin. It takes 200+ pounds of fresh pomegranates to yield one pound of costly pomegranate seed oil.

    5 Penny Lip Scrub

Dry, chapped lips are an unfortunate reality of winter. Thankfully, outrageously priced lip scrubs don’t have to be. You can recreate a simple version of those department store concoctions at home- for a fraction of the price. For less than a nickel per application, you can use this handy little tip to help loosen and gently remove dead skin for a Pitt-worthy pucker.

Take a pinch of brown sugar and gently rub onto moistened lips (don’t attempt this dry or you’ll risk raw, overly exfoliated lips). Rinse with warm water and immediately apply chapstick. I do this routine several times per week throughout autumn and winter and it yields beautiful results in seconds!

    Drumroll, please...

    Molasses Honey Hair Help

    November 5, 2005

Use this nourishing formula to hydrate and deeply nourish your locks as we head into the drier months.

    1/4 cup molasses
    1 tablespoon honey
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 tablespoon castor oil
    1/4 cup water
    1 small egg yolk
5 drops tea tree essential oil
    5 drops lavender essential oil

Measure water and warm it in the microwave for 30 seconds. Add the egg yolk and stir well to mix. Combine all other ingredients and blend until thoroughly mixed.

Apply to hair, concentrating on roots and pulling through to the ends. Leave on for 15 minutes- rinse well and follow with shampoo and conditioner. Can be used bi-weekly; store any remaining mixture covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
