Between the mass of beauty products on the market and the accompanying hype from manufacturers, understanding exactly what's in a product and what it's designed to do can be quite the challenge.
We've created this guide to assist our clients who strive to become more discerning consumers. We support those who scrutinize ingredients and product claims (we do it, too!) and hope the information below helps you understand how to interpret labels, no matter who makes the product they're attached to.

1. Product Name
This title identifies what the product is.
2. Volume Measurement
This represents the amount of product inside the package, reflected in both
standard and metric terms. The amount stated is the actual product weight and
excludes the weight of any packaging components. The "e" indicates
that the product has been filled according to the guidelines outlined in the
Cosmetics Directive of the European Union.
3. Product Description
A brief outline of what the product is designed to do. Special ingredients
and product benefits may be outlined.
4. Directions For Use
This information helps you determine how and where to use the product. These
instructions should be carefully followed. Additional information (including
any cautionary statements and proper product storage) may be highlighted
as well.
5. Ingredients
Ah, the good stuff! According to both American and European laws regarding
cosmetic and personal care products, all ingredients in a formula must be
fully disclosed on the label. They are arranged in descending order,
so the ingredients in highest concentration appear at the top of the list.
If you see "goodies" touted in the marketing of a product, look
closely at the label to determine how much the product actually contains-
the lower it appears on the list, the less there is inside the product. It's
also important to avoid products that contain ingredients that may be particularly
sensitizing to you.
For clarity, Bella Luccè has chosen to include both INCI (scientific)
and "common" names for each of our ingredients. INCI names are
listed first, with common names following in parentheses.
6. Recycling/Animal testing Statements
All Bella Luccè labels carry the guarantee that our products are not
tested on animals (nor do we ask anyone to engage in animal testing on our
behalf). In addition, we encourage recycling whenever possible and all of our
packaging components are recyclable.
7. Contact Information
This information lets you know who manufactured the product and where it was
made. At a bare minimum, manufacturers and distributors are required to disclose
their company name, city, state and zip code. All labels affixed to Bella
Luccè products also contain both our website address and toll-free
number so that we may easily be contacted with questions about any product
in our collection.
8. Period After Opening
This PAO (Period After Opening) symbol is mandated by the European Union. It
reflects the amount of time in which the product should be used once open,
when used and stored under normal conditions. The M represents months, so the
product above should be used within 18 months of opening. This number
will vary according to the type of product, type of packaging and the ingredients
used in its formulation. Please see below for helpful tips on prolonging the
life of your product.
A few tips for extending the life of your products:
- Always read and carefully follow the instructions for use.
- Never dilute or mix products unless directed to do so by the manufacturer.
- Keep product away from direct sunlight and avoid extreme changes in
temperature.
- Tightly close products between uses and avoid allowing water or other
contaminants to enter the product.
- Apply products with clean hands.
- Refrain from sharing your cosmetic and personal care products with
others.

with leading scientists in the field of natural personal care products. Our products are created in our own
